How to watch YouTube on your smart TV

More and more people are watching YouTube on their televisions these days, but not many of them are doing it correctly. Type SmartTube in the search box

You can’t watch YouTube on a smart TV, unless you have an Android smartphone or tablet. That’s because Google hasn’t yet released an app for watching YouTube videos through connected TVs, which is why a workaround exists: Using Google Cast and Chromecast, you can stream any video—not just those uploaded to YouTube—to your television. For example, you could use Safari (Apple), Chrome (Google), or Opera Mini (both) mobile browsers to look up a video you want to share with friends while they sit together in front of your television set. The only real way to download and stream videos from YouTube is by using a streaming device like a Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast or a gaming console. If you don’t have one of these devices, but you do have an Android phone or tablet , you can download Google’s official YouTube app from Google Play . Open it up and sign in with your Google account credentials.

Whether you’re after a particular song, movie, or kitten video, it’s a good idea to search for what you want so that Google knows exactly what video you are looking for. If a video is relevant and high quality but doesn’t appear in search results—even if it’s unlisted—you can request it. Then select Other: Tell us more about why you think this content should be included and describe why we should include it in our search results. When we review these submissions, we consider whether the site has appropriate permissions, licensing or legal rights to host that content.
